26,527. Del Mar, H. Dec. 3, 1906, [date applied for under Patents Act, 1901]. Steam-generator furnaces; baffles. - Relates to boilers of the kind in which cross-tubes 12 connect opposite side-headers 11, 10. A baffle 14 arranged below the cross-tubes compels the furnace gases to pass through a series of staggered tubes 13, connecting the lower headers 11 to a combustion chamber 15 at the back of the boiler, from which they pass to the uptake 23 through smoke-tubes 22 in the steam drum and between the cross-tubes. The steam in the receiver 28 mounted above the steam drum is superheated by means of a smoketube 30, which opens into the combustion chamber, the passage of the hot gases to the tube being controlled by a damper 32.
