Abstract
16,667. Henderson, J., and Henderson, J. Aug. 17. Smoke-consuming; flues.-A chamber is made at the back or sides of the grate of a range or fireplace, and is so constructed that the smoke and air from the fire, passing into it, are heated so that the smoke is consumed. According to the arrangement shown, the rear of the chamber b, Fig. 3, is formed by the front of the boiler c ; the path of the combustion products from the aperture b<1> to the flue h is shown by arrows. An aperture d<1> in the side of the chamber d communicates with a " hot-air chamber d, Fig. 1, at the side of the oven e. This chamber is continued along the top and bottom of the oven, a damper f being fitted to cut off the sides and bottom from the top when required. The top flue l, shown closed by the damper j, is open only when the fire is being lit. The flue h may also be closed by the damper j.
