Abstract
4154. Kochheim, H., Kochheim, E., and Reuter, G. Feb. 28. Compound boilers; settings.-Upper and lower drums a, e are connected at the front by a water chamber b and tubes d, and at the back by a pipe c. The space between the drums is divided horizontally and vertically by partitions h i The furnace gases, which pass up amongst the tubes d, are allowed to flow only along one side of the partition i through an opening g formed in a wall m extending right across the back of the furnace. The gases then pass under the drum e and through its tubes f, and escape to the flue after passing through the aperture k and around the upper part of the partition i.
