A cylindrical valve h has ports i for each wheel, and admits steam from a pipe m to an annular steam chamber k having nozzles f leading to the first wheel. The exhaust from the first wheel passes through the valve to the second wheel, and so on. Duplicate passages are provided for reversing. In a modification, auxiliary passages are provided to conduct steam from one wheel to the next.
