Abstract

19,903. Hubbard, A. R., and Flay, R. Sept. 15. Cooking stoves and ranges; ovens. -Cooking - ranges are provided at the side with a pair of ovens which are placed one above the other and heated by air drawn past the firebox, and circulated round the ovens before combustion. The bottom of the upper oven d, Fig. 1, is on a level with the hot-plate b, and the lower oven e reaches to the bottom of the range. Air is drawn directly for combustion through the perforated door f, Figs. 3 and 4, into the chamber g balow the grate, the bottom of which forms the ashpit. The chamber forming part of the range surrounding the firebox and boiler c has air separately admitted to it through holes h, which, being heated, passes to the upper oven through the nearer side passage k, Fig. 2, formed by the curved front of the ovens, and after circulating in the upper oven, passes by the other passage k to the lower oven, from which it is drawn through the holes l to the space below the firegrate for combustion. The products of combustion pass to the chamber below the hot-plate b and through the pipes n to the flues. The ovens are separated only by the drawplate i, the front edge of which is curved to fit the front. Several draw plates may be fitted. Dampers may be arranged where necessary.
