Cooking stoves and ranges; grates; boilers; ovens. -Relates to kitchen ranges in which the fireplace is fitted within a heating-chamber, the hot air from which circulates through the ovens, a special form of grate being described. The heating- chamber a is rectangular, having a semicircular front preferably closed by perforated doors and is covered by a hot-plate c. The grate consists of two shafts h, h<1>, with teeth g cast or formed helically upon them. The teeth g have convex sides, triangular in end view, the two lower sides being longer than the upper side. The shafts h, h<1> are mounted in bearings in the fireplace and can be rotated, so as to rock the fuel, by means of a handle k, they being in connection at the rear by gear-wheels j. An annular boiler n forming a fire-pot is arranged above the grate and has vertical ribs m on the inside. In order to prevent fuel from falling through the grate, a loose ring p is provided, having projections q which fit between the ribs m, other projections r being provided where necessary. The ring p is made to rise and fall simultaneously with the motion of the teeth g by cams s upon the shafts h, h<1>. The front of the fireplace is fitted with a perforated door t for the admission of air beneath the grate. The boiler is fitted with the usual circulating-pipes o, o<1>. Two or more ovens u, u<1> are arranged one above the other so as to be heated in part by hot air from the chamber a, which, after passing through the ovens, is drawn in through holes v under the firegrate. The products of combustion pass through a space. d above the fire-pot, and through the oven flues e, y, x, z to the chimney, dampers and cleaning-doors being provided where necessary.
