21,302. Chalmers, T. Sept. 30. Incandescent lamps, holders for. The case of a holder for a capped lamp carries means for gripping the insulated suspending-wires, and a clamping-ring to hold a shade. The case is in two parts a, b, connected by a flanged external ring c screwed to the upper part. The leads e pass through a central hole in the insulating-plug d, and are held tightly therein by a pin g in a transverse hole f, the plug being kept in position by its base h, which abuts against the neck of the part a. Rotation of the plug within the casing may be prevented by using a pin g long enough to pass through holes i the casing, or by a recess in the plug into which a feather on the casing fits. The shade l is kept tightly pressed against the ring c by a divided spring ring m, which grips the case b and is pushed against the shade l, preferably with an indiarubber washer n interposed, by means of the cup-shaped end p of a special tool. The opposite end q of the tool will fit inside the casing b, and thus enable the holder to be supported during removal of the shade and supporting-ring.
