M o t o r cycles; driving - mechanism. -Relates to light vehicles of the cycle type, and consists in means for augmenting the power of the motor and controlling the speed of the vehicle by the use of pedal driving-gear. A differential epicyclic gear is employed. One of the three rotary elements of this, viz. the pinion 21, is rotated by the motor 1 through pulleys 2, 24 ; a second 20 can be rotated when desired by the rider by means of pedal cranks, and the third 25 acts as the means through which the power is transmitted to the chain-wheel 30 and thence to the vehicle wheel.
