Abstract

190,120. Martin, W. A. Dec. 10, 1921, [Convention date]. Sliding-jaw wrenches. - Two forms of an adjustable sliding jaw wrench are described. In one form, Fig. 2, the sliding jaw 20, embracing the shank 10 of the fixed jaw 11, carries a pivoted pawl 27 also embracing the shank 10 and held by a spring 31 in engagement with teeth on a bar 14 which is slidable in a recess in the shank 10 and is guided by a pin 15 engaging a hole 13. A handle 16 is pivoted to the shank 10 and to the bar 14 so that the jaws 11, 20 are pressed towards each other during the operation of the wrench. In the other form, the bar 14 is omitted, the teeth being formed on the shank 10, and the handle is integral with the shank.
