19,173. Schmidt, W. Sept. 23. Superheaters, steam; auxiliary boilers.-A superheater is combined with an auxiliary water-tube boiler so as to be heated by the gases from the separate furnace thereof. The steam from the auxiliary boiler may be mingled with that from the main boiler and passed through the superheater. In Fig. 1, b, b are the water drums and s the steam drum of the auxiliary boiler, and r, the tubes of the superheater. Steam from the main boiler enters the drum i, passes through one set of superheating - tubes to the drums k, k and up through the other set to the drum h, whence it passes to the engines. The apparatus is especially suitable for marine use.
