Hot-water storage apparatus; generating by direct contact of steam with water.-In a high. pressure water-tube boiler having a steam and water chamber placed out of contact with the furnace gases, the chamber is connected in paralell with the superheater and the feed-water is supplied to the boiler through the chamber, and excess boiler steam is led into the water in the chamber. Water is fed to the boiler a from an external chamber b through a pipe m, and excess boiler steam, which does not pass through the superheater d, is led into the chamber. The main steam supply from the boiler passes through the superheater d. Steam may be led from the chamber into the superheater through a pipe k. or may be taken direct from the chamber through a pipe s. The feed-water is heated in an economizer e before entering the chamber.
