Abstract
187,641. Edney, W. J. April 26, 1921. Circular-flow type; working-fluid supply. - A turbine comprises a rotor on which a duct with internal projections is arranged in the form of a spiral. The duct is formed by winding a transversely grooved band strip which may be of gradually increasing width into a spiral coil and fixing it to stepped flanges on the rotor or to radially grooved end plates. The rotor may be open or enclosed and operated by pressure or suction to set up a current of air &c. through the duct; pumps for this purpose may be connected to a central boring in the shaft through revolving joints. Wind pressure may be employed.
