Abstract

187,492. Jones, I. Nov. 28, 1921. Axial-flow type; blades; cooling parts.-An exhaust silencer comprises a casing A enclosing a series of rotor and stator wheels D. S, the wheels D being mounted on a spindle M, which also carries a fan E and is rotated by the exhaust for the production of power. The wheels D, S carry curved vanes 7 mounted in dovetail grooves in the wheels and secured to circumferential rings 8. In front of the wheels D, S are rings 1, 2 secured together and to the hub P, and having respectively axial and inclined perforations. The exhaust gases are admitted by a pipe F with air inlets O, and further inlets O<1> admit air through the hollow hub P. The fan casing L is fitted with an outlet pipe K.
