Alternating - current motors.-In order to control the starting of induction motors, the rotor 4 is connected to a three-branched circuit, of which one branch A contains a non-inductive resistance, a second branch B contains a choking-coil of high inductance and small ohmic resistance, and a third branch C contains inductance and resistance of intermediate values. The choking coils may be associated with secondary circuits of high resistances and may be wound on the spider arms of the induction motor.
