Abstract
362,509. Induction motors. ELECTRICAL RESEARCH PRODUCTS, Inc., 195, Broadway, New York, U.S.A., FRASER, I. S. and JOHNSON, E. N., 10, Wells Road, Regent's Park, London. Sept. 6, 1930, No. 26670. [Class 35.] In order to adjust the difference of phase in the two windings of a splitphase induction motor of the Ferraris or other type, an adjustable capacity is connected with series with one of the windings and an adjustable resistance with the other. In the arrangement shown the winding 12 is connected to a set of resistances 30, 32, &c. and the winding 13 to a set of condensers 16 .. 22. One of the supply leads is connected to the junction of the winding 12, 13 and the other to the other terminal of the condenser 16. By means of a series of switches 23 .. 28 of the telephone jack type different combinations of the condensers and resistances can be put in circuit. The jack 26 puts the resistances 32 in circuit without any of the condensers.
