Abstract

185,437. Collinson, D. L. H. March 10, 1921. Link-work.-Engines having cylinders parallel to a central shaft drive through swash-plate mechanism comprising an inclined disc 7 mounted upon which are channel-shape members 5 housing plates 6 bearing against the disc 7. The piston rod 3 is connected to the member 5 by a universal joint carrying a slipper 9 working on a guide 10. A modified construction is described in which the universal joint is dispensed with, the piston rods having ball-ends which engage the members 5, one of the members carrying a roller oscillating on an arc-shape guide. The engine cylinders may each contain two oppositely moving pistons, a swash-plate being disposed at each end of the engine. Two sets of cylinders may be disposed between three swashplates:
