Abstract

Surface carbur ettors.-A carbur ettor, more particu larly for use ir connection witl internal - combus tion engines, corn prises a chamber 11 supplied with liquid hydrocarbor from a float cham ber 10 and pro vided with an air conduit 12 sur rounded bv a num ber of coaxial hollow gauze cones 13, 14, the basal peripheries of which rest on the bottom of the chamber 11. The inner cones 14 are preferably truncated, whilst all the cones are perforated by a number of supplementary holes 15 through which wool or other capillary material is threaded, the ends of the material dipping into the fuel. A. gauze screen 16 is placed covering the exit of the carburettor to prevent back-fire reaching the carburettor, and an opening 17 is formed in the carburettor above the normal hydrocarbon level and in communication with the tank to prevent flooding.
