Abstract

326,561. Wicks, S. C., and Curry, R. S. Sept. 16, 1929. Charge, moistening.-The air supply to a carburettor is drawn through a tank A the bottom of which is curved to fit over the exhaust pipe B the troughs F of the tank being filled to the level D with water into which dips a wick E stretched across the curved bottom of the tank. Water is supplied to the tank through a drip pipe C or by other means, the surplus being carried away through an overflow pipe. Air is admitted to the tank through an orifice G in the end wall and through an orifice in the top, a hinged cowl J being provided which either acts as a wind scoop to the air inlet in the top of the tank or may be turned down to shield the orifice G. The moistened air passes to the inlet of the carburettor through a conduit M and a chamber K containing a diagonal mixing baffle L.
