Spray - carburettors. - The mixing- chamber h is provided with a trough g divided into two chambers o, p by a partition i, the chamber o forming part of the air inlet e and communicating with the top of the float chamber by a pipe k, and the end of the fuel-inlet pipe c opening into the chamber p. The partition i extends so far down towards the bottom of the cup that the pressure of the air during its passage below the partition is reduced sufficiently to cause fuel to be drawn from the pipe c. The normal fuel level is above the outlet of the pipe c, the fuel in the trough g acting as a reserve for starting. The air passes through a heater before entering the inlet e which is controlled by a throttle valve r. The fuel is drawn into the float chamber a from a low-level tank by suction transmitted through the pipe k. To filter, and assist in mixing and vaporizing the charge, the lower portion of the chamber h is filled with metal wool or the like through which the mixture passes on its way to the outlet m.
