Abstract

184,535. Hamlin, W. R. April 12, 1921. Folding boxes combined with means for displaying advertisements; fittings, external; lids.- A container is supported in an inclined display position by a lid and has a member bearing ad-- vertisements which can be raised to form a show card. The device is formed from a single blank shown in Fig. 4, and when made up can be closed to form a box with an open-ended lid 25, Fig. 1, or opened out to the display position shown in Fig. 3, in which the lid 25 supports the box 13 in an inclined position and the advertisementbearing member 18, 19, 20 is raised and opened out. Fig. 2 shows the device in the intermediate position, with the front outer end 12 of the box being brought into position by its link 29 with the lid 25. The sides 26 of the lid 25 enter the double sides 15 of the container. Locking-tabs 21 engage slots 24 in the extensions 23 to hold the members 18, 19, 20 in display position. In closing, the wings 20 fold against the flaps 19, which are then bent inwardly against the member 18 so as to overlie the contents when the member 18 is folded downwardly. In a modification the wings 20 are so shaped and fixed as to hold flaps 19 rearwardly at an angle with the member 18. The finished surfaces, preferably bearing printed matter, indicated by the thick border lines, are all on one. side of the blank, Fig. 4.
