Abstract

190,061. Bomber, W., and Cropper & Co., Ltd. Feb. 22, 1922. Grant of Patent refused. Boxes combined with means for displaying advertisements &c.-A display flap cut from the top or from the top and one side of a cardboard or like box, leaving flanges at each side, is creased so that it can be folded upon itself above the box, whereby finishing and printing of the cardboard on one side only is required. The Figure shows a box bent up from a single blank, the ends of which are secured at 4, a display flap 5 being hinged on a rear flange 9 and retained in its folded position by the hinged portion 8 of a tongue 7 cut from the rear edge of the flap. In a modification the flap is cut from the top of the box only, and is so scored and cut that in the folded position an ornamental figure stands up from the fold. Notched corners of the flap engage behind projections on the flanges to retain the flap in the erect position. The display flap may be hinged about the rear edge of the box, and the closing flaps 19 may be formed in the front and rear sides of the box so that the box can be sealed by a single band surrounding both the display flap and the closure flaps.
