Abstract

202,838. Hutton, R. W. Aug. 18, 1922. Boxes formed from special blanks; lids; fittings, internal; boxes combined with means for displaying advertisements. - A cardboard or like box comprises a collapsable four-sided body 1 - - 4, a bottom 5, 6 closed by tongue and slot elements 7, 8 or other fastening and a double-fold lid 10, 11 hinged at 3<a> to the front wall 3 of the box and adapted to be folded on the line 12 to form the ordinary closure for the box or to be opened out to form a display shelf for, and an ornamental show card behind', the goods contained in the box. When opened out the lid is supported by slots 14 in flanges 13<a> engaging the upstanding edges of the side walls 2, 4. the portion 10 then forming the shelf for the display of goods removed from the box and the portion 11 displaying advertisements printed on the inner face thereof. The slots 14 allow the shelf to be positively positioned within the interior of the box and scorings 3b, 3<c> and cuts 3<d> in the wall 3 allow the front of the shelf to be bent outwardly as shown. The part 10 may have side flanges 10<a> and the walls 1, 2, 4 of the box may have reinforcing flanges 9.
