Folding boxes; lids and covers; fittings, internal.-A box made by folding a scored cardboard blank is adapted to be supported by the cover in various inclined positions to display the contents. The body of the box is formed by folding each side 2, 2a, Fig. 1, inwards upon itself, the parts 2b extending across the ends 3. Extensions 3a on the ends 3 pass between the folds 2, 2a of the sides. A hinged cover is formed bv bending up sides 5 and an end 4 in a similar way. The extreme edge of the end 4c is held under a tab 7. The sides of the cover are partly cut along lines 6, forming portions that may be torn away, leaving inclined edges, so that, when folded right beneath the box with the part 4a resting against the end 3, the cover forms a wedge elevating one end of the box. Fig. 4 shows a position in which the cover stands vertically, elevating the other end of the box. The parts 4<1> of the sides of the cover are passed between the folds 2, 2a of the sides of the box to give rigidity in this position. Further support may be given by interengaging tongues 10 bent out from the bottom of the box and from the cover, or by gummed-on braces. In another position, the cover stands vertically, as shown in Fig. 4, and the box is suspended in a lower position from the part 4a. The flaps 4' are either torn off or allowed to stand out laterally. The blank may have a flap 8, Fig. 1, to receive advertising matter; this is bent up into an upright position when the box is supported for displaying the contents. The flap 8 may be a separate part inserted between the end of the box and the contents. In a modification, the extensions 2a, 2b are dispensed with, and the sides 2 have terminal extensions with pointed portions, which are folded and passed through L-shaped slots in the end 3 and then opened out; the cover is secured in a similar manner.
