CBGSBY fiiEIIlPAlIY, or EQSEON, isAsssoi-mserrss, s. oomoiiswioer or ligigiiostiozi flea June is,
2 '0 all whom. may oonoem."
Be it known that 1, MICHAEL F. Concosiu r, a. citizen of time United States of America, and; n. resizient oi Stoneixam, in the e county of Mitiiesex and State oi Messw oiiusetts have invented certain new and use ful Improvements in Counter-Display Feltiing Boxes, of which the following is s speoi fioetion.
This invention relates to folding boxes stiepteti to oispiay upon a counter, erticiee for seie, and has for its object the produo tTion oi o, evioe oitiiis oimrseter which wiii eerve as e container for said articles during 15 storage and transooi'tetion and which may be opened up quiiil to uncovei' the goods. the cover for the box then forming a 3y one at the rear of the box noon which suitable advertising matter may be shown.
Tine invent-ion consists rimeriiy of a folding box sea eover there "or both formeci .i'rom s. single Eoienk, said cove iisvingen incision therein? formin. a (iispis'y panel "eciapted to efiend upwer 1y when ssiri cover is folded up at the rear of the box.
The invention' further consists of s. f0idable box, the cover of Whioii is proviiied with e display panel exposed to view Whether the box is ciosefi or open.
The invention further able box, the cover of which is provided with a, foidoonneoteci to two foic'is beneath the box and sciaoteai td'iie moved mietiveiy to said box to em! wiifii said two folds a triangular support st the rear of the box. The invention further consists in providiog said triangular support with a slit to reoeive a locking clip formed in the bottom of the box. v
The invention further consists in certein novel features of eonstiuotio i eni arrangement of parts which was be understood resciiiy by reference to the description of the so consists of a fold drawings and to the claims to be hereinafter given.
For tiie'pm'pose of illustrating the invention, one preferred form thereof is iiius irate; in, the drawings, this form having been founc'i to give satisfactory and reliable results although it is to the various instrumentaiities of which the invention consists can be variously arranged and. organized anti the invention is not 11mbe umierstoot'i that GGUIFTTERDISELh'S! EetWe'en the two thiciznesm of the front Wail of the box, are positionefi the Wings 18 forming. part of the side extensions 19 and ioioisbie on the ciotteti iines 2G. 3
These side extensions it :ioidabie on tile Eiotteci lines to, form the side weiis of the box oi? two tiiioiziiosses.
The" outer portion 23 each sidfe extension 19 is foidebie on the (iotteii line 2& so that the e116. portion 23 may rest upon the hottom. oi the ioox ssindioated in Figs.
3 to 5 inoiusive.
When the 300:: is being foideci end portions 23 are inserteri beneath the ears 25 formezi in the bottom 11, Sfiiii outer end portions 23 having longitudinal creases 26 therein which facilitate the insertion of the ends 23 beneath the ears 25.
Due enci of tixeee ens. portions 533 ins rests the outer "we with ears 3O foldable on the dotted lines upon the end. portion i? of the front wall of the box and-prevents its displacement.
One or'. the side eiitensions, 19 has a long wing 27 extending from the end thereof foldable on the dotted lines 28 and 29, the portion a between the dotted lines 28 and 29 forming one thickness of the back wall of the hon, while the portion 3; between the dotted linoj 29 and the outer end of said wing is adaptedto be inserted between the two on the dotted lines 86, 37, 38, 39, 40 and ell.
The portion 6 between the dotted lines I 36 and 37 is adapted to rest against the I bottom of the box and against this folded portion 6 the portion f, bet wen the dotted lines 37 and 38, is adapted to rest.
The portion g, between the dotted lines 38 and 39, is normally positioned between the portion a' of wing "27 and the ears 20,
while the portion h, h between the'dottcd lines 39 and 41 formsa cover to the box with the portion 11 between the dotted line 41 and the outer end of this extension folded down in contact with the front wall of the box. This portion 71 is locked to the front wall of the box by the projection 4% being inserted into the slit 43 formed in the extension 13.
"With the blank folded toform a box, as indicated in Fig. 2 of the drawings, the car 44 formed in the bottom 11 extends into the slit 45 and retains in position the folded portions 6, f beneath the bottom of said box. V
The long extension 32 has an incision 46 cut therein forming a panel. 47 of any desired shape, and said extension 32-is provided with another incision 48 forming: a supporting; ear 49 on which the Wing 27 is adapt d to rest when the box is opened and adjusted into position to be inclined upon a counter with the cover portion folded back to form a display panel at the rear of the box as indicated in Figs. 5 and 6 of the drawings.
While in storage or transportation, the articles to be sold are packed within the box with the cover closed as indicated in Fig. 2 of the drawings.
' vlVhen it is desired extension 32 on the dotted lines 39, and
to display the goods ,upon the counter, the salesman detaches the masses forces the extension downwardly until the ear 49 is below the wing 27 and then moves this ear is outwardly, the extension 32 then being adjusted so that the wing 27 will rest upon said ear as. shown in Fig. 6.
The portion it between the dotted lines Y35 and 39, will then be between the wing 27 and the cars 30. y
The extension 32 is then folded on the dotted lines 40, and then the portion 11 thereof, between the dotted line ll and the outer end of said extension 32, is positioned against the front face of the portion k and between this portion h and the ears 30.
Owing to the crease 35 formed in the extension 32, the panel between said crease 35- and dotted line 41 may be inclined to any desired angle relatively to the rear wall of the box.
On the front face of this panel at the rear of the box, any suitable advertising matter may be displayed.
'When the extension 32 has been pushed .down until the ear 4L9 is beneath the wing 27, a triangular support is formed beneath the box thereby causing it to be raised into such an inclined position as to best dis;-
play the contents of the box.
This triangular support is locked in position. by means of the ear 49 engaging the wing 27 and by means of the car 44; ex-
tending into the slit 5.
The entire box and cover are formed from a single blank and owing to the manner in which the various .portions are folded to form the container, said blank may be constructed from material only finished upon one side as both in opened or closed condition the finished side is always outward.
As a consequence the box may be formed of less expensive material than the foldable boxes now in general use and when it is desired to print matter upon the box, the printing can all be done at one operation as all parts exposed to view-in the finished box are on the same side of the blank.
This makes a 'very rigid box to contain small articles for sale and during shipment and it is obvious that the box can be very quickly and readily adjusted to display the contents thereo'f'upon a counter without in any manner displacing the contents of the tacting with the bottom of said box, thereby forming a support for one end of said box.

and provided with an ear adapted for insel ,ion between the two thicknesses of the r posite side wall of the box; and an ear in the bottom of the box for insertion in said foldable portions to retain them in triangular relation to each other.
