Abstract

183,707. Harrison, W. W. July 21, 1921. Hoods.-In a cape-cart hood for chars-a-banc &c. and comprising two or more hoop-sticks connected by links and levers, the main prop a and secondary prop c, forming part of a parallelruler-like movement, are connected at their upper ends by a link d which extends forwards to form a bar d<2> by which the hood is supported, and a locking link g, pivoted at g<3> to the main prop a and at g<2> to a hoop-stick member f, locks the hood in its fully-closed position, the rear end of the member f being pivoted to the bar d<2> at f<2>. The locking action is cont-rolled by raising or lowering the front hoop-stick member m, which is stop-jointed to a link p and when raised oparates intermediate hoop-stick members l, k, h, stop-jointed at their lower ends to connecting- links o, n and the bar d<2> respectively and interconnected by levers r, q, i and coupling-links t, s. j, thus raising the hoop-stick member f and bringing the pivot-point f<2> below the line joining- the pivot-points g<2>, g<3> to unlock the hood from its fully-closed position.
