Abstract
183,660. Gibbs, H. C. June 9, 1921. Vibration-dampers.-The revoluble drum of a friction-disc shock-absorber is connected to the axle by an encircling band adapted to grip the drum only when the mechanism is moved in one direction. A spindle a fixed to the chassis carries friction plates d held bv an adjustable spring e against loose plates f. One of the plates f has ears g operating on a drum h mounted on ball bearings i and adapted to be rotated in one direction by a band j connected to the axle by a lever k and a link. A lever o contacts with an adjustable pin p on the band to loosen this when the axle rises. By mounting another lever on the other side of the drum, the shock-absorber may also be used for another spring.
