Abstract
238,210. Soc. Anon. Avercau, (Assignees of Veglio, G.). Aug. 8, 1924, [Convention date]. Vibration-dampers; buffers.-A shock-absorber particularly for resisting rebound movements in vehicle suspensions, comprises a drum 2 fixed to the vehicle frame, a rotatable crown 5 mounted within the drum, and a spiral spring 18 extending through an arc of less than 360‹ and arranged between the drum and crown with its ends secured to these members. The crown is connected by a one-way clutch to a spindle connected to the axle by a lever. As shown, the clutch comprises a member 10 keyed to the spindle 9 and formed with grooves 12 and inclines 11 which wedge rollers 13 against the crown 5 when the member 10 is rotated in one direction. The resistance of the spring 18 to relative rotary movements of the crown and drum is augmented by some frictional resistance between the spring and crown. The Specification as open to inspection under Sect. 91 (3) (a) comprises also the vibrationdamper shown in Figs. 1 and 2 (Cancelled) in which conical friction surfaces 1, 4 are formed on a fixed casing 2 and a rotatable crown 5, the amount of friction being determined by a spring 6 abutting against a groove in the crown and a screwed cover plate 8. The crown is operated by a lever 14 fixed on the spindle 9 connected to the crown by a one-way clutch as described in connection with Fig. 2. This subject-matter does not appear in the Specification as accepted.
