Abstract
242,268. Soc. Anon. Avercau, (Assignees of Veglio, G.). Nov. 3, 1924, [Convention date [. Vibration-dampers; buffers.-A spring suspension, more particularly for motor vehicles, comprises a curved plate spring arranged in an annular space between the inner surface of a casing and the outer surface of a barrel mounted on eccentric journals in bearings concentric with the inner surface of the casing, the ends of the spring being secured to the casing and barrel respectively. The spring contacts with a variable area of the surface of the casing, the area depending on the angular position of the barrel which depends on the distance between the chassis frame and axle. The spring is substantially freely stressed in one direction of movement, the return movement being damped by frictional engagement of the spring with the casing. As shown, the spring 1 is secured at 1<a> to a casing 2 on the frame 6, and at 1<b> to a barrel 8 eccentrically secured on a pivot 5 which is mounted in the casing and is connected to the axle 4 by a duplex lever 7, shackle 9 and perch 10. Two springs and barrels may be arranged side by side in the casing, the springs acting in the same direction or in opposite directions. When the springs act in opposite directions, the rebound spring is connected to the lever bv a free-wheel device. The device may be used alone or in conjunction with the usual laminated springs.
