Abstract

177,734. Kuhn, E. May 27, 1921. Laminar springs; vibration - dampers.- A spring cushioning- device for vehicles comprises an arc-shaped laminated spring the ends of which are provided with levers which turn about a fulcrum at the centre of the spring, frictional means being provided thereat for reducing the oscillation of the spring and levers. To the ends of the outer leaf a are bolted lugs h, h', carrying eyes by which the leaf is connected to the vehicle frame and main spring respectively, and the outer ends of levers k, k<1> the inner ends of which are pivoted together by a bolt l at the centre of the spring. Excessive outward movement of the lever is prevented by rims m, m<1> on the circumference of the enlarged inner ends thereof which engage corresponding recesses n, n<1>, and motion is damped by the lever being pressed together and on to an interposed friction disc p by springs q. Brass insertions may be placed between the leaves of the spring to reduce friction, and a rubber stop s prevents the lugs h, h<1> from colliding.
