Abstract

180,387. Sayer, W. H. Jan. 26, 1931. Cans, vessels, &c., cleaning and sterilizing. -Vessels such as milk churns are stood on a block, extending up to the line 18, in which is fixed a nozzle comprising a four-way union with a branch 1 connected to a supply of clean water, a branch 2 connected to a supply of solvent fluid (such as water containing soda &c.), a branch 3 containing a steam-supply pipe 5, and a branch 4 with an outlet pipe 6. The pipes 5, 6 are coned, as shown, and act as an injector to suck fluid through the branches 1, 2 or through either of these, according to the positions of control cocks. The pipe 6 is screwed into a part 10 having an aperture 9 communicating by radial passages with a groove 12, which opens into helical grooves 13 in the coned upper part shown. The liquid and steam escape with a rotary motion through an aperture 14 in a screw-on cap 15. The liquids may be heated.
