Abstract
164,838. Martin, F. G. March 15, 1920. Cleaning, fluid-pressure processes for.-Apparatus for removing scale, &c. from condensers and other heat-exchange apparatus comprises a tank 13 containing a cleansing fluid such as a diluteacid and connected by the pipe 16 with the suction side of a pump 12 which is in communication by way of pipes 14, 17 with the headers 7 of the condenser 1. Liquid is drawn from the tank 13 until the tubes and water spaces of the condenser are full and the liquid is subsequently circulated therein by the pump a three-way valve 15 being operated to cut off communication with the tank. The condenser is finally washed out with water circulated by the pump. The pipes 14, 17 terminate in rotatable distributing-arms 18, 19 by operating which the flow of the fluid can be made equal through all the tubes within their radius of operation.
