Abstract

180,295. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (Assignees of Hull, A. W.). May 18, 1921, [Convention date]. Thermionic oscillation generators of the negative - resistance type, and having no coupling between their grid and plate circuits, comprise an electronemitting cathode 2, a grid 4 having a normal positive potential which receives electrons from the cathode and emits secondary electrons, and a plate 3 having a greater positive potential which attracts the secondary electrons. The grid potential may be given by a tap connection 11 from the plate battery 7, and is such that the grid circuit has a negative resistance, causing oscillations to be produced in the tuned circuit 5, 6. The plate circuit is coupled to'an aerial 10 or other load circuit. The circuit 5, 6 which determines the frequency is not coupled to the load.
