439,032. Thermionic valves; circuits. MARCONI'S WIRELESS TELEGRAPH CO., Ltd., Electra House, Victoria Embankment, London.-(Assignees of Haines, D. G. ; 34, Ella Street, Bloomfield, New Jersey, U.S.A.) March 28, 1934, No. 9715. Convention date, March 28, 1933. [Classes 39 (i) and 40 (v)] A circuit arrangement including a valve having between the cathode and main anode a first control grid, an auxiliary anode and a second control grid comprises coupling means for the first control grid and auxiliary anode so that with the cathode they constitute a generator of oscillations, an input circuit for another set of oscillations connected between the second control grid and the cathode and an output circuit connected between the main anode and the cathode. The construction and disposition of the auxiliary anode and arrangement of the circuit are such that the current to the auxiliary anode is not substantially greater than that necessary to maintain the generator in oscillation. The second control grid may be of the multimu type. In one form, a signal input circuit 28 is connected to the second control grid 23 and a tuned output circuit 29 to the main anode 15. The cathode 16, first control grid 20 and auxiliary anode 21, which may consist of two backbones with or without a few turns of wire, are connected to a generating circuit 30. The grid 22, which serves as an accelerating grid, is connected to the screen grid 24. In a modification the grid 22 is directly connected to the cathode. The cathode 16 may be directly or indirectly heated. Valves constructed in accordance with Specification 439,082 may be employed. Specification 437,726 also is referred to. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 408,256.
