Abstract

148,523. Ges. f³r Drahtlose Telegraphie. Sept. 9, 1918, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Electric oscillations, producing.-In a thermionic generator in which oscillations of either one of two frequencies may be produced, cscillation at the undesired frequency is prevented bv the interposition of an auxiliary condenser, inductance or resistance, or a separate circuit syntonized to the undesired frequency. Fig. 3 shows a typical arrangement, the anode and grid circuits of the thermionic valve 1 being coupled to the oscillatory circuit 17, 9, by means of the inductances 3 and 4 respectively. The valve may oscillate at either of two frequencies according to whether the circuits formed by the inductances 3 and 4 with the parallel anode-filament and gridfilament capacities, act resultantly as inductances or as capacities. To suppress one of these frequencies, the reaction between the grid and anode circuits of the valve is so arranged that the valve will oscillate more easily at one of these frequencies than the other. In the arrangement shown, reaction between the grid and anode circuits is prevented at the higher frequency by the insertion of a parallel condenser 14 or a series inductance 15 in the grid circuit. The same result is obtained by the interposition of a separate circuit syntonized to the undesired frequency, which circuit offers a high impedance to variations of the undesired frequency. The invention may be applied to other circuit arrangements in a similar manner, having regard to the frequency to be suppressed and to the effects of interposed inductances and capacities.
