Abstract

178,478. Binns, W., and Mander, J. D. Oct. 22, 1920. Doffing - arrangements. -In spinning, roving and like frames fixed guides 6 are provided to engage and co-operate with h mechanism for operating upon the caps and bobbins which is carried upon the ends of levers 4, 5 depending from a frame 3 displaceable on overhead runways to serve different parts of a spinning - frame or different frames of a bank of spinning-frames. The doffing - mechanism is displaced and lowered into operative position in the manner described in Specification 136,861. A bracket 7, which is mounted on an arm pivoted to the lever 4 and carries forks 11 for engaging the caps, is provided with a pin 12 which engages with a groove 13 in the guide 6 so shaped that the doffing-members clear the projecting parts of the frame, such as the drawing- rollers, when being lowered. A pin 19 on a rack 16. which gears with a pinion mounted in a bracket 15 hinged to an arm 14 pivoted on the lever 5, engages a groove 20, so that by operating the handle 18 of the pinion the bobbin-carrying devices carried by a depending bracket 22 may be moved towards and from the spindles. The full-bobbin clips 26, Fig, 2. are mounted on a frame 25 integral with a segment 24 which is operated by a pinion and hand-wheel 23 carried in the bracket 22. A tray 27 carrying the empty bobbins is turned into an horizontal position and the end bobbin thereon is brought over the spindle by displacing the bracket 15 along the rack 16. The tray 27 is of the magazine type in which a follower is connected to a cable passing round the axle of a hand-wheel coaxial with the wheel 23. The yarn is guided around the spindle beneath the flange of the empty bobbins by fingers 31.
