Doffing - arrangements; threadsevering arrangements.-In a doffing-mechanism of the kind in which the lifter plate with the full bobbins in lowered on to an horizontally reciprocable rack, which is operated to deposit such lifter plate upon receiving-means and to place in proper alinement another lifter plate with empty bobbins, the receiving-means are cam-operated and remain in a stationary position holding the lifter plate above the level of the rack whilst the other lifter plate is given the necessary movements to place the empty bobbins in the spinning position. The lifter plate 2, Fig. 2, with the full bobbins 1 is lowered on to an horizontally reciprocable rack 3 by which it is carried forward over a series of spindles 7' which can be raised by cams 6 on a spindle 5 to lift the bobbins and free the rack to be moved back. A second lifter plate 9 with the empty bobbins 10 is raised by a. rack 12, and the rail and bobbins are deposited on the rack 3 which is moved forward again to receive them and carried back to its normal position with the bobbins in alinement with the spindles. The thread-severing device 17, which comprises two members stretching across the frame, one of which can be traversed by hand is raised by a treadle operating the gear 15 and moving the rack 16. A few turns of thread are wound on the empty bobbins and the threads then severed. The horizontally reciprocable racks 24, Fig. 6, may accommodate both the lifter plates 23 and 26 carrying the full and empty bobbins 21, 22 respectively. The movement to carry the full bobbins over the receiving spindles 7<1> takes the empty bobbins into alinement with the spinning- spindles. The receiving-means may comprise brackets on a rotary spindle.
