Abstract
263,239. Rushton, J. L. Sept. 26, 1925. Thread guides; spindle apparatus. - In spinning-machines for artificial silk and the like wherein the filament is led into the spinning-box by means of a funnel so mounted that it may be withdrawn from the box and returned thereto substantially in a longitudinal direction, the framework which supports the funnel is articulated and has one side relatively stationary and the other sides arranged to move the funnel to and from the operative position so that, in its fully-withdrawn position, it is moved clear transversely of the spinning-box. The framework comprises a stationary bracket 20 mounted on the traverse rail 12, and in the arrangement shown, connected by parallel links 21, 23 with a member 17 which always remains vertical and carries the funnel 14. The arc marked on the Figure shows the path of the funnel as it is withdrawn. The pivot studs of the framework are provided with rubber washers to provide the necessary friction to retain the parts in any position, and a stop 36 is provided to determine the operative position. The spinning-box is lined with ebonite or the like and the lid is retained in position by a spring 102. The funnel need not be maintained vertical in its withdrawn position and parallel linkage need not be used. The Provisional Specification states that cam and lever mechanism may be used.
