Abstract

Winding - machines. - In machines for winding double taper-ended cops for use in loom shuttles and the like of the kind wherein the taper of the nose' of the cop is governed by a shaper, which during the winding of the base engages a progression wheel mounted on a traverse bar formed in two parts movable relatively to each other, a tension spring 11 connects the parts 3<a>, 3<b> of .the traverse bar and a stop is provided to limit the movement of the part 3<b>. The part 3<a> is provided with a plate 5 secured to a shaper rod 8. and the part 3<b> with a slide movable within the guide formed by the edges 6 of the plate 5, so that, as the thread guide is fed along the screw by the progression wheel 24, a finger 25, by its movement along an adjustable shaper 26, allows the spring 11 gradually to draw the part 3<b> from the position shown in Fig. 1 into alignment with the part 3<a>, thereby forming the base of the cop, the winding thereafter proceeding regularly.
