176,947. Low, A. M., and Low Engineering Co., Ltd. Jan. 11, 1921. Wheels, facilitating detachment of. - A wheel mounting for cycles and other vehicles, more particularly motor-cycles, comprises the combination of a driving bevelwheel e provided with laterally projecting elements, such as pins e<1>, to engage apertures in one of the hub flanges, a brake drum p containing expanding shoes q carried by the other hub flange, and a bolt j extending through the bevel-wheel, the hub, and the brake drum to hold the parts in driving-relation without lateral pressure between the hub and the bevel-wheel, the parts being so arranged that upon sufficient withdrawal of the bolt, the hub, its sleeve, and the brake drum and shoes can be removed without disturbing the bevel-wheel. The brake shoes are actuated by a cam-piece s carried by a stud t. The bolt engages with a nut o which is adapted to be screwed off the end of the bolt when the wheel is to be released. According to the Provisional Specification, gearing other than bevel driving-gear may be employed.
