Abstract

174,560. Vanthi, L. Jan. 28, 1921, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Spray carburettors.-To a carburettor comprising a float chamber 1, supplying a nozzle or nozzles in the usual manner, is added an economizer nozzle 3 of which the portion containing the orifice or orifices is made of tin or a like metal or alloy in which it is possible to form an orifice of extremely fine bore. The nozzle 3 delivers fuel into a pipe 4 open at its lower end to the atmosphere and delivering at its upper end into the induction pipe 6 between the carburettor throttle valve 7 and the cylinders. The discharge of the nozzles and the area of the air inlet to the main carburettor are less than those usually employed. The nozzle support 2 is connected to the float chamber by screwing, welding &c., and has a chamber 11 and plug 12 which facilitate removal of sediment. The pipe 4 has a control cock 9 and an auxiliary air inlet valve 10, and delivers mixture into the induction pipe preferably at a constricted part 8 so as to assist the flow of mixture from the main carburettor. Th bore of the cock 9 may be constricted. The pip 4 may be surrounded by a heating jacket.
