Abstract

172,599. Vanthi, L. Dec. 4, 1920, [Convention date]. Void [Published under Sect. 91 of the Act]. Spray carburettors.-To a carburettor comprising a float chamber 1 supplying fuel nozzles in the usual manner is added a nozzle 3 which delivers fuel into a pipe 4 open at its lower end to the atmosphere and delivering at its upper end into the induction pipe 6 between the carburettor throttle valve 7 and the cylinders. The discharge of the nozzles and the area of the air inlet on the carburettor are less than those usually employed; the device is stated to economize fuel. The nozzle support 2 is connected to the float chamber by screwing, welding, &c., and has a chamber 11 and plug 12 which facilitate removal of sediment. The pipe 4 has a control cock 9 and an auxiliary air inlet valve 10 and delivers mixture into the induction pipe preferably at a constricted part 8 so as to assist the flow of the mixture from the carburettor. The bore of the cock 9 may be constricted. The pipe 4 may be surrounded by a heating jacket.
