Abstract

Brush-holders.-In a brush-holder for dynamoelectric machines in which the brush 11 is pressed forward in an open-ended guide 16 by a pivoted spring-controlled finger 19, and the end portion 21 of the finger, which bears on the brush, is hinged to the main portion of the finger and can be swung in one direction clear of the brush so as to permit removal of the latter from its guide, the controlling tension-spring is secured to the main portion at or near its junction with the hinged end portion and anchored near the pivotal axis of the main portion. The guide 16 is provided with a projection 27 to take the end of the finger 21 when it is removed from the brush. The projection 27 is so positioned that when the finger 21 engages with it the spring 26 is not extended beyond its maximum extension when the finger bears on the brush. One end of the spring 26 is connected to the finger 19 at or near the pivot 20, while the other end is connected to a pivoted member 24 adjustable by means of a set-screw 25. The brush-holder is supported on a spindle 14 of the brush-rocker.
