Abstract

151,537. Armstrong, A. March 3, 1920. Brush-holders.-The bent arm a which presses forward the brush c in its slot b is pivoted at d to a barrel e the spindle f of which is eccentric and is mounted between the pivot d and the brushslot b. The arm a has a tail-piece h coacting with a stop j. The pressure of the arm a on the brush b is effected by a spring k surrounding the barrel e and held at one end by a stationary pin m and at the other end engaging with a toothed rack n on the barrel by which the tension of the spring can be adjusted. The holder g is secured to the clamp p by a dovetailed joint connexion r by which the holder can be adjusted relatively to the clamp in a direction parallel with the brush. The holder and clamp are firmly secured together by a tapered bolt t and nut u. The brush lead v is secured to the clamp by a nut w which also serves as a lock-nut for the nut u.
