Abstract

201,471. Mawdsley, J. H. St. H. Nov. 2, 1922. Brush-holders comprise an L-shaped member 1 having in one limb a channel 2 for the brush 3, and at the outer end of the other limb a recess forming a pair of side plates 4, 5 between which is a spindle 10 carrying a spring 12. One end of the spring 12 engages a longitudinal saw-cut 11 in the spindle, and a subsidiary coiled spring 14 also engaging with the saw-cut is formed at its free end as an operating lever whereby the spindle can be rotated to vary the brush pressure. The operating lever is capable of a rocking movement in the direction of the axis of the spindle to permit of disengagement from teeth 9 on a rack 8 formed on one of the side plates. The brushholder is secured to its support by a bolt 15.
