Abstract

188,895. Railing, A. H., Orsettich, R., and Angold, A. E. Oct. 14, 1921. Brush-holders. - In brushholders of the plunger type in which the brush is pressed forward against the commutator or slip-ring by an helical spring, the brush J is engaged by a thrust rod C surrounded by an helical spring B in tension. The lower end of the spring is attached to the part A<1> of the holder and the upper end to the rod C. The spring is preferably tapered as shown. The tension of the spring is adjusted by means of a pawl G engaging with notches A<2> in the wall of the cylinder A. The pawl G is preferably rounded on the thrust side and the notches are made to fit it. More than one series of notches may be provided, the steps of one series coming at heights intermediate with those of the other series so as to allow of a, fine adjustment of the spring.
