Abstract
933,442. Brush holders for dynamo-electric machines; protective arrangements; inductors. ELECTROLUX A.B. Dec. 11, 1959 [Dec. 22, 1958], No. 42171/59. Classes 35, 38 (2) and 38 (4). The brush spring of a commutator is electrically connected in the commutator circuit so that it performs the dual function of urging the brush into engagement with the commutator 4 and suppressing radio-interference from the commutator, a ferromagnetic core being associated with the spring to increase its impedance. As shown, a carbon brush 5 is pressed against commutator 4 by a helical spring 11 which surrounds a ferrite core 12. The end of the spring remote from the commutator may be tapered to retain the core. This end of the spring bears against a metal insert 13 in an insulating cap which is screwed on a sleeve 6 which may be metal or insulating material lined with metal. In an alternative arrangement the core surrounds the brush spring which may be a leaf spring.
