A socket for a screened cable consists of a metal tubular member 4, which is connected to the cable screen, a cylindrical insulating member 3, which is a sliding fit in member 4, carrying a metal contact 1 which is connected by soldering to a conductor of the cable, and a spring clip 5, which fits in slots 6 in the tubular member 4, and engages grooves 7, in the cylindrical member 2. A metal sleeve may be slipped over member 4 to cover the slots 6, and sides of the clip 5, so that if member 3 rotates relative to member 4 the sides of the clip are not forced apart.
