Abstract

399,594. Brush-holders for dynamoelectric machines. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., Magnet House, Kingsway, London, and CRANSTON, W. M., c/o General Electric Co., Witton, Birmingham. May 12, 1932, No. 13678. [Class 35.] A flexible lead 13 that connects the brush 1 of a dynamo-electric machine to the brushholder 4 is gripped by a spring clamp comprising a jaw 7 mounted on a pivot 8 and acted on by a spring 10 which also presses the brush upon the commutator &c. The lead is gripped between the jaw 7 and the spring 10 which engages a projection 7a on the jaw. The spring is secured to a spindle 3 carrying an arm 2 pressing on the brush 1. A rib 6 on the arm 2 engages an oblique surface on the jaw 7 to open the jaw when the arm is pressed down after removal of the brush. Flexible conductors 12 connect the arm 2 and jaw 7 to the brush-holder casing.
