Abstract
389,766. Brush-holders for dynamoelectric machines. ENGLISH ELECTRIC CO., Ltd., 28, Kingsway, London, and HASSLER, E. H. H., Siemens Works, Staffordshire. Oct. 27, 1932, No. 30111. [Class 35.] In a holder wherein a compression spring is pressed against the brush by a slidable and rotatable plunger, part of the surface of the plunger is roughened and serrated and co-operates with a fixed spring blade which is inclined at an acute angle to the plunger axis and acts as a pawl. In the form shown, the blade 3 is mounted on the upper face of the V-groove 1b of the guide 1a and engages the notches 2a in the plunger 2 which contains the spring 6. As the notches 2a extend only part way round the circumference, the plunger can be freed from the pawl by rotating it and it can then be moved axially. For a duplex brush holder, two plungers are provided, and the blade spring is U-shaped, each limb engaging the notches in one plunger.
