Abstract

171,807. Donkin, J. Sept. 2, 1920. Tyres with rims enclosing air-tubes; tyre attachments to rims. -- The air-tube 8 is seated between deep side flanges 2 having inwardlyhooked edges 4 to receive the beaded edges 5 of a solid tread 6. The beads 5 are secured, independently of the inflation of the tube 8, by wire rings 9 fitted with adjustable turn-buckles 10. The flanges 2 are secured by clamps 14 and transverse bolts 3, driving-lugs 15 on the flanges 2 projecting through the clamps as shown. Detachable-rim attachments to wheels.-In a modification, the separate side flanges are replaced by a one-piece channel rim secured (in a similar manner) over a standard rim.
